New in Theaters: Idris Elba, Julia Stiles, Alison Brie, and Kate Bosworth

1.  Beast  (R)  Trailer

Idris Elba stars in this survival thriller as a widowed father who takes his two daughters on a trip to South Africa to see the wildlife reserve where he met their mom. But then they’re stalked by a vicious man-eating lion.

Sharlto Copley from “District 9” is the old family friend who runs the reserve.  Elba’s daughters are played by Iyana Halley (adult Annie on “This Is Us”), and Leah Jeffries from the upcoming “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series.

2.  Orphan: First Kill is in theaters and on Paramount+.  (R)  Trailer  (Limited)

Isabelle Fuhrman returns as Esther in this prequel to Orphan, that movie about a murderous orphan who is actually an adult impersonating kids.  Esther escapes a psychiatric facility, then impersonates the missing daughter of Julia Stiles.

3.  Spin Me Round is in theaters and on AMC+.  (PG-13)  Trailer  (Limited)

A comedy starring Alison Brie as a restaurant manager who earns a trip to Italy to take part in a special Italian-immersion program.  While being wooed by the company’s owner, Alison realizes there’s something shady going on.  

The owner is played by Alessandro Nivola from “The Many Saints of Newark” and his assistant is Aubrey Plaza.  The rest of the cast includes Molly ShannonDebby Ryan, and Fred Armisen.

4.  The Immaculate Room  (R)  Trailer  (Limited)

A psychological thriller starring Kate Bosworth and Emile Hirsch as a couple who join a social experiment for $5 million. 

To earn the money, they just have to last 50 days in an “immaculate” white room.  But as time goes on, the person running the experiment puts them through stressful tests like adding a naked woman in the room, played by Ashley Greene.
