Ryan Gosling is a top CIA operative being hunted across the globe after a rogue former agent blows his cover and puts a bounty on his head.  Billy Bob Thornton plays his handler and Chris Evans is the sociopath trying to kill him. It’s a Netflix movie directed by MCU veterans the Russo Brothers, who directed Chris in the last two Captain America movies and the last two Avengers movies.

It’ll open in a few select theaters and then hit Netflix next week, on July 22nd.

2.  Where the Crawdads Sing  (PG-13)  Trailer

It stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as a girl who learns to survive on her own in the marshes of North Carolina and is then suspected of murdering an ex-boyfriend who tried to rape her.

This is the movie Taylor Swift wrote Carolina for.  She says, “‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ is a book I got absolutely lost in when I read it years ago.  I wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match this mesmerizing story.”

You may have heard that the book’s author, Delia Owens, is also wanted for questioning in a murder case.  Back in the ’90s, Delia and her husband Mark ran a wildlife preserve in Zambia, and Mark’s son is suspected of killing a poacher.

3.  Wrong Place  (Unrated)  Trailer  (Limited)

This is one of the last movies Bruce Willis made after being diagnosed with aphasia.

He announced his retirement from acting earlier this year.  Despite struggling with his condition, Bruce kept working as long as he could to help movies get financed so more people would have jobs during the pandemic.

This one is an action thriller where he plays a retired cop who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnessed a drug-related murder.  He arrests the killer, but then that guy’s family comes after him to keep him from testifying.

They kidnap his daughter to lure him out to a remote cabin, but she fights back just as hard as her dad.  Ashley Greene from “Twilight” plays the daughter.

4.  Gone in the Night  (R)  Trailer  (Limited)

Winona Ryder stars in a convoluted horror thriller where she and her boyfriend rent a remote cabin only to find out it’s been double booked when they get there.  They reluctantly agree to share the cabin for the night with another couple.

When she wakes up in the morning, she’s told her boyfriend hooked up with the other girl and they ran off together.  For some reason, she accepts this without question, then spends the rest of the movie looking into his disappearance.

Brianne Tju from “Light as a Feather” is the promiscuous tramp who steals her man and Dermot Mulroney plays the cabin owner helping Winona investigate.

6.  Marcel the Shell with Shoes On  (PG)  Trailer

She’s the voice of Marcel, a seashell with a pair of shoes, one googly eye, and an innocent little boy’s voice.  The movie is about Marcel’s attempt to find the rest of his family and features Jenny’s first husband as the documentary filmmaker.

Their original 2010 video has over 32 million views.  They also followed that up with two more animated shorts (in 2011 and 2014), and a few children’s books.
