A follow-up to the classic 1992 horror movie about a killer with a hook for a hand, who’s summoned by idiots who are stupid enough to say his name five times into a mirror. This one stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as an artist who moves into a luxury condo that was built over the site of the ghetto where the original murders happened. He then becomes obsessed with the legend after someone tells him the truth about Candyman. His girlfriend is played by Teyonah Parris, who you might remember as Coco from the movie version of “Dear White People”, or as Monica Rambeau in “WandaVision”.
It also includes cameos from the female stars of the first movie, Virginia Madsen and Vanessa Williams. And Tony Todd returns as the irreplaceable voice of Candyman. This movie was co-written by Jordan Peele, director Nia DaCosta, and some other guy you’ve probably never heard of, named Win Rosenfield.
