New in Theaters: The “Hunger Games” Prequel, “Trolls 3”, and “Thanksgiving” Horror

1.  The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes  (PG-13)  Trailer

This prequel takes place 64 years before “The Hunger Games”.  It follows the events that lead Coriolanus Snow to later become the tyrannical leader of Panem.

18-year-old Coriolanus (English actor Tom Blyth) is assigned to mentor the District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) during the 10th annual Hunger Games.  It also stars Peter Dinklage and Viola Davis.

2.  Trolls Band Together  (PG)  Trailer

Poppy discovers that Branch used to be in a boy band called BroZone with his four brothers.  When his brother Floyd is kidnapped, they must reunite with the other bros and embark on a journey to save him.

Along the way, Poppy meets a long lost older sister named Viva.  This third film in the “Trolls” franchise has a star- studded voice cast.  It includes Anna KendrickJustin TimberlakeCamila CabelloKid Cudi, and Daveed Diggs.

‘N Sync reunited on the song “Better Place” for the soundtrack.

3.  Thanksgiving  (R)  Trailer

A mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer named “John Carver” terrorizes the town of Plymouth, Massachusetts after a Black Friday riot.  The killer plans to create a Thanksgiving carving board using town’s residents.

Director Eli Roth based it on his mock trailer from “Grindhouse”.  It stars Patrick DempseyAddison Rae, and Milo Manheim.

4.  Next Goal Wins  (PG-13)  Trailer

From director Taika Waititi, it’s based on the true story of the American Samoa soccer team as they try to recover from being known as one of the worst teams due to a loss of 31 to 0 against Australia in 2001.

Michael Fassbender is the coach tasked with helping the team and lead them to qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.  It also stars Will ArnettElisabeth Moss, and Samoan-New Zealander actor Oscar Kightley.
