New in Theaters: “The Flash” and Disney Pixar’s “Elemental”

1.  The Flash  (PG-13)  Trailer

Ezra Miller returns as Barry Allen / The Flash.  When he uses his power to run back in time to save his mother from dying, there are unintended consequences.

Barry accidentally creates a world without heroes, which leaves the planet defenseless when General Zod (played by Michael Shannon) appears.

In order to defeat Zod, he teams up with his inexperienced younger self, and alternate versions of Batman (Michael Keaton), and Supergirl (played by Sasha Calle from “The Young and the Restless”).

There are also a few other fun cameos that we won’t spoil for you.

2.  The Blackening  (R)

You know that outdated horror movie trope where the black character is often the first to die?  Well, this horror comedy pokes fun at that nonsense when seven black friends are trapped in a cabin with a masked killer.

The killer demands the friends rank their degrees of blackness so he can decide which order to kill them.  It stars Grace Byers from “Empire”Jay Pharoah from “Saturday Night Live”, and Yvonne Orji from HBO’s “Insecure”.

3.  Elemental  (PG)  Trailer

The latest Pixar movie follows an unlikely pair, a fire element named Ember Lumen, and a water element named Wade Ripple.  They meet when Wade is summoned to inspect a plumbing accident at Ember’s dad’s convenience store.

After, Ember goes into Elemental City to find Wade to ask him to be lenient on some of her dad’s store violations.  The city is where fire, water, land, and air residents live together . . . and where they’ll fall in love.

Ember is voiced by Leah Lewis, who you might know as George from the “Nancy Drew” TV series.  Wade is voiced by Mamoudou Athie, the guy who played Ramsay Cole in “Jurassic World: Dominion”.
