New in Theaters: “Cry Macho” and “Copshop”

1.  Cry Macho  (PG-13)

Clint Eastwood is a washed-up former rodeo star who finds redemption for his wasted life by agreeing to cross the border into Mexico to find his boss’ son.  And as they run from the law, he teaches him what it means to be a good man. As you’d expect, Clint also directed this movie, which is also out on HBO Max today.  The kid is played by an unknown actor named Eduardo Minett and country singer Dwight Yoakam plays his dad.

2.  Copshop  (R)  Trailer

Gerard Butler plays a hitman trying to complete a job after his mark gets himself locked up in a small-town police station.  He gets himself thrown into the jail cell next to him, but then has to get creative when a competing assassin shows up and starts shooting up the place. Frank Grillo from the “Captain America” movies is the conman he was sent to kill and Alexis Louder from “The Tomorrow War” is the rookie cop defending the two of them.
