“1917” Dethroned “Star Wars” at the Box Office

“1917” was the surprise winner at the Golden Globes last week, and over the weekend, it dethroned “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” at the box office.

“1917” made $36.5 million, more than double the $15.1 million that “Star Wars” made.  “Like a Boss” was the highest-grossing new movie.  It made $10 million and came in fourth.  Here’s this weekend’s Top 10:

 

1.  “1917”, $36.5 million.  Up to $39.2 million in its 3rd week.

 

2.  “Star Wars: Episode 9 – The Rise of Skywalker”, $15.1 million.  Up to $478.2 million in its 4th week.

 

3.  “Jumanji: The Next Level”, $14 million.  Up to $257.1 million in its 5th week.

 

4.  NEW:  “Like a Boss”, $10 million

 

5.  “Just Mercy”, $10 million.  Up to $10.4 million in its 3rd week.

 

6.  “Little Women”, $7.7 million.  Up to $74 million in its 3rd week.

 

7.  NEW:  “Underwater”, $7 million

 

8.  “Frozen 2”, $5.8 million.  Up to $459.4 million in its 8th week.

 

9.  “Knives Out”, $5.7 million.  Up to $139.6 million in its 7th week.

 

10.  “Spies in Disguise”, $5.1 million.  Up to $54.6 million in its 3rd week.
